Betwatch alternative: a dated comparison of two racing odds boards

A Betwatch alternative compared only on what each product's own pages state, read on 12 October 2026: racing codes, bookmaker columns, exchange prices and cost.

By the B337 team. Last updated 12 October 2026.

    The short answer

    • Betwatch is an Australian racing odds comparison product and a genuine competitor. Everything said about it here was read on its own public pages on 12 October 2026 and is quoted or closely paraphrased.
    • Its pages state thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing, a badge reading 50+ Australian bookmakers, and an API governed by a fair use clause in its terms.
    • No plan price was readable on the pages we could reach: the pricing path returned a 404 and the app sits behind a login, so price is recorded as not stated rather than as free.
    • The B337 Terminal covers racing and sports from 40+ bookmakers with Betfair back and lay, price history, closing lines and EV overlays. Terminal View is $25 a month and places no bets.
    • Bets placed through B337 also use credits, a per-bet usage charge, so a plan price is not the whole cost. If you only bet Australian racing, a racing-only board may well suit you better.

Betwatch is an Australian racing odds comparison product, and a real competitor rather than a partner or a supplier of ours. If you are shopping for an alternative, the useful question is not which board is better in the abstract but which of two questions you need answered: where is the top price, or is the top price any good.

Everything this page says about Betwatch was read on its own public pages on 12 October 2026 and is quoted or closely paraphrased. Where its pages do not say something, this page records that it is not stated on the pages we checked, which is a different claim from saying the product does not do it. Naming a competitor carries a duty under the Australian Consumer Law to be accurate and current, so a line here that stops matching their site should be deleted rather than defended.

What Betwatch's own pages say, as at 12 October 2026

The address betwatch.com.au answers with a 301 redirect to betwatch.com, so the pages below are the ones that redirect serves.

The home page describes the product in one sentence: "Betwatch is a comprehensive and easy to use odds comparison tool for Thoroughbred, Harness, and Greyhound racing markets." Its headline reads "Live Odds Comparison Made Easy", a badge above that reads "50+ Australian Bookmakers", and the two things to click are "Get Started for Free" and "Login". No individual bookmaker is named there.

The odds comparison page is headed "Fastest Australian Racing Odds Comparison" and says "Compare the latest odds from Australia's leading bookmakers for greyhound, harness and thoroughbred racing." It also states "we provide the fastest and most comprehensive odds comparison platform in Australia", which is their claim about their own product and one we have not tested. Its copy names Tab, Sportsbet, Ladbrokes and Betfair in a "best odds" form, and it lists venues under separate greyhound, harness and thoroughbred headings.

The terms of service are the most informative page of the set. On data, they say the service "may include data that is taken from third-party sources and may not be owned or controlled by Betwatch", and that "Race materials, including fields, form, and results, remain the copyright of Racing Australia and related parties." On an API, they say "The API is designed to support fair use and reasonable access by all users", that "You may not use the data contained in the API for any commercial purpose without prior consent", and that "Betwatch makes no guarantees as to the availability, performance, or reliability of the API." The footer names the operator as Betwatch Pty Ltd and carries a "Gamble Responsibly 18+" link.

    What we could not verify

The pricing path we asked for returned a 404, and the way into the app itself is the Login link on the home page, so no plan price was readable on anything we could reach. The three pages that do answer, taken together, mention no price and no plan name at all.

Nor do they mention these, which are therefore recorded below as not stated on the pages we checked rather than as absent: price history, Betfair back and lay as their own columns, alerts, bet placement, sports markets, and any fair price or expected value view. A free sign-up button is not a price, and a login prompt is not evidence either way.

Note: If their site now states any of this, the row is out of date and should be rewritten from their page rather than from this one. The date on this page is the date it was read.

One row deserves saying out loud rather than burying: their published figure starts higher than ours. Both are floors with a plus on the end rather than counts, and neither was counted by us.

Top price, or a price above fair

This is the real split between the two products, and it is arithmetic rather than opinion.

A board showing every bookmaker's price answers "where is the top price". A board that also shows the exchange price in the same row answers "is the top price any good", because the exchange gives you something to measure against. Illustrative prices, chosen to show the sum rather than to describe a real race: Betfair $4.20 to back and $4.30 to lay a runner, best bookmaker price on the board $4.60.

Edge = offered price divided by reference price, minus 1. So $4.60 against $4.20 is 4.60 / 4.20 - 1 = 9.52%. The second-best bookmaker at $4.40 is 4.40 / 4.20 - 1 = 4.76%. The gap between the top price and the next one down is 9.52 minus 4.76, which is 4.76 percentage points of edge on that one bet. Taking the back price as the reference flatters the bet, because the true price sits inside the spread: against the $4.25 middle of $4.20 and $4.30, that same $4.60 is 8.24%.

Example: change the reference price and the answer changes. If fair were $4.80 instead, that same $4.60 is 4.60 / 4.80 - 1, which is minus 4.17%. It was still the top price on the board, and still a bet to leave alone.

Without a reference price, the top price is a fact about the board rather than a fact about the bet.

    Where the prices come from

B337 collects the prices bookmakers publish and Betfair's own exchange prices, and lines them up. None of it comes from Betwatch or from any other comparison product, and none of it is bought as an odds feed from a data vendor: the prices come from the bookmakers and the exchange themselves. That is why this page compares the two products rather than ranking a supplier against its customer.

Betwatch's own terms are candid here and say the service "may include data that is taken from third-party sources and may not be owned or controlled by Betwatch", without naming the sources. That is their statement, not our characterisation of it.

The honest limit on our side: prices are read on a repeating cycle rather than tick by tick, so a price on screen can trail the bookmaker's own. The price in your own bookmaker account is the one that settles, so confirm it there before you bet.

What B337 does, what it costs, and what it does not do

The Terminal is a live odds board: racing and sports prices from 40+ bookmakers side by side, with Betfair back and lay, price history (flucs), closing lines and EV overlays. Racing covers thoroughbred, harness and greyhound meetings, with meeting tabs, a countdown to the jump, and filters by code, meeting, date and region. Not every bookmaker prices every race, so the columns follow the market.

Two plans carry a published price. Terminal View is $25 a month, is read-only and places no bets: you place any bet yourself with your bookmaker. Terminal Pro is $300 a month and adds placing bets by hand from the board into accounts you hold, the same game multi builder, and the +EV, arbitrage and middles screeners. Over a year that is 25 times 12, or $300, against 300 times 12, or $3,600, a difference of $275 a month or $3,300 a year. The upgrade is a decision about betting from the board rather than about seeing more of it.

The part a plan price leaves out: bets placed through B337 use credits, a per-bet usage charge, so the cost grows with the bets you place. Credit rates are not published. Leaving that out would make the comparison with a cheaper board look better than it is.

Risk: Betting involves risk. Bookmakers can restrict or close accounts and void bets, automation can fail, prices move, and a positive expected value bet can still lose. There is no guarantee of profit. An EV overlay is an estimate measured against an estimated fair price, not a known probability, and a price above fair still loses most of the time at long odds. Who should stay with Betwatch

Three cases, and they are not grudging.

You only bet Australian racing and you want the top price quickly. A racing-only board is the simpler product for that job, and simpler is faster to read when a race is two minutes off.

You are not paying for a board yet. Their entry point is a free sign-up on their own description, and no plan price was readable on the pages we checked, so the cheapest honest test is to run theirs and ours side by side and see which one you keep opening.

You want data for your own tooling and their fair use API terms suit you. Read that clause yourself: no commercial use without prior consent, and no guarantee of availability, is a real constraint on anything built on top of it.

    Who B337 suits better

Four cases, each tied to a row in the table above.

You bet sports as well as racing and want one board for both. Their readable pages describe racing only.

You want to judge a price rather than just find the highest one, which needs Betfair back and lay, price history and a fair price view in the same row as the bookmaker columns.

You want to bet from the board, which is what Terminal Pro adds, with the screeners alongside it.

You want the bets recorded. Every placement, price and settlement lands in your dashboard, so you can check each one against your bookmaker account.

Note: Each bookmaker's terms govern what you may do with your account, and no software prevents an account being restricted or closed. B337 is software rather than a bookmaker: it is not affiliated with any bookmaker or exchange, takes no bets, sets no prices, and never holds your funds. Your money stays in your own accounts, under their terms.

    Comparing two odds boards yourself

A fair test takes about twenty minutes and beats any comparison table, this one included.

Pick one race about thirty minutes from the jump and open both boards on it. Count the bookmaker columns each shows for that race, usually fewer than the headline figure on either site. Write down the top price on the same runner in both, with the time you read it, because a board on a slower cycle will disagree with a faster one and you want to know by how much on the races you bet.

Then ask what a price cannot answer alone: is there a reference price in the same row, and can you see where the price has been as well as where it is now. Finally, price the year rather than the month, since a $25 board is $300 a year and a board you can bet from, with per-bet credits on top, is a different budget entirely. For the longer version, see the betting software buyers checklist, and for the other product we compare ourselves against by name, see the Betmatic comparison.

    Questions

    Is Betwatch free?
Its home page carries a Get Started for Free button, and no plan price was readable on the pages we checked on 12 October 2026, because the pricing path returned a 404 and the app sits behind a login prompt. Treat its price as not stated rather than as free or paid, and check its own site before you decide.
Does Betwatch cover sports as well as racing?
Every page of theirs we could read describes racing only: thoroughbred, harness and greyhound. Sports coverage is not stated on the pages we checked, which is not the same as saying there is none.
    Which one lists more bookmakers?
On published figures Betwatch states the higher number: a badge reading 50+ Australian bookmakers against B337's published 40+ priced on the Terminal. Neither figure was counted by us, and columns follow the market, so not every bookmaker prices every race.
Does B337 buy its odds from another comparison site?
No. The Terminal collects the prices bookmakers publish and Betfair's own exchange prices and lines them up itself, rather than taking a feed from another product or an outside data vendor. Prices are read on a repeating cycle rather than tick by tick, so a price on screen can trail the bookmaker's own.
Will either product place a bet for me?
Terminal View is read-only and places no bets. Terminal Pro adds placing bets by hand from the board into bookmaker accounts you hold, and bets placed through B337 use credits. Bet placement is not stated on the Betwatch pages we checked.
