PRA in betting: points, rebounds and assists as one prop

What is PRA in betting? An NBA player's points, rebounds and assists in one line. A worked PRA bet, why combined props carry their own margin, and DNP rules.

By the B337 team. Last updated 7 October 2026.

    The short answer

    • PRA adds a player's points, rebounds and assists into a single total that you back over or under a line: 19 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists make a PRA of 32.
    • Every rebound and assist counts the same as a point, which lets a big night in one category carry a quiet night in another.
    • Each prop is priced on its own: for example, a PRA line at $1.80 and $1.95 is a book of 106.8%, against 105.3% for the same player's points line at $1.90 on both sides.
    • Minutes tie the three counts together, so a player's PRA swings more from game to game than three independent counts would.
    • If the player is a late out, your bookmaker's participation rule decides: void if he never takes the court under one rule type, while under an all-in rule the bet stands, so an over loses.

PRA in betting is an NBA player prop on points, rebounds and assists added into one number, which you back over or under a line. A guard who scores 19, takes 5 rebounds and makes 8 assists has a PRA of 19 + 5 + 8 = 32, so over 30.5 wins and under 30.5 loses.

A rebound or an assist counts the same as a point, and the bet settles on the official box score under your bookmaker's terms. PRA sits among the NBA player props covered in US sports betting from Australia.

    How a PRA line works

The NBA's stat glossary counts a rebound as recovering the ball after a missed shot, and an assist as a pass that leads directly to a made basket. Take an illustrative line of 33.5, over at $1.80 and under at $1.95, with $25 on the over across three nights:

    NightPointsReboundsAssistsPRA$25 on over 33.5 at $1.80
    1264535Wins: 25 x 1.80 = $45.00
    21491033Loses $25
    3217634Wins: $45.00

Night 2, a double-double of 14 points and 10 assists, still fell half a point short. Two-stat versions work the same way: points plus rebounds (PR), points plus assists (PA) and rebounds plus assists (RA).

Why combined props can carry a different margin

Each prop market is priced on its own, so a player's PRA margin need not match his points margin. Measure each with the book percentage, 1 / over price + 1 / under price:

    • PRA 33.5 at $1.80 and $1.95: 0.5556 + 0.5128 = 1.0684, or 106.8%.
    • Points 21.5 at $1.90 on both sides: 2 / 1.90 = 105.3%.

Here the combined line costs more; elsewhere it can cost less.

Combined lines are also harder to price, because minutes tie the counts together: a player who plays 40 minutes tends to add to all three, and one in foul trouble loses all three. With illustrative standard deviations (SD) of 6 points, 3 rebounds and 2.5 assists, the PRA's SD is:

    • Added as if independent: square root of (36 + 9 + 6.25) = 7.16.
    • With a correlation of 0.3 between each pair, add 2 x 0.3 x (6 x 3 + 6 x 2.5 + 3 x 2.5) = 24.3 inside the root: square root of 75.55 = 8.69.

    Project 35.5 against the 33.5 line and the over's chance is 61.0% with an SD of 7.16 (fair $1.64) but 59.1% with 8.69 (fair $1.69), from a spreadsheet's 1 - NORM.DIST(33.5, 35.5, SD, TRUE).

Did not play rules for PRA bets

A late out settles under your bookmaker's participation rule:

    • Takes no part: void if he never takes the court, so the stake comes back.
    • All-in: the bet stands whether he plays or not, the starting point in the NSW rule book for bookmakers authorised there unless something else is agreed (clause 5.1.1).

Once he plays any part, an early exit settles on what he recorded: 6 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist before a first-quarter injury is a PRA of 9, a loss for the over. Player did not play rules compares the rule types.

PRA beside triple-doubles and other props

The triple-double market needs 10 or more in three of five categories, steals and blocks included; PRA ignores steals and blocks and has no thresholds. So 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists is a triple-double but a PRA of only 30, while 30 points with 5 and 5 is a PRA of 40 and no triple-double. Player props betting covers the same shape in other sports.

PRA prices and the B337 screeners

Two bookmakers' PRA lines on one player can differ, making them different bets. B337's Terminal shows player props where bookmakers offer them, from 40+ bookmakers across racing and sports. Across sports markets, the +EV screener ranks prices above a fair price by edge, filtered by sport, market and bookmaker. That fair price is an estimate from the market, with the margin removed from prices across it, not a player projection like the one above. The rows come with Terminal Pro, Full Automation or the Screeners plan, and a free account sees the live counts with the rows locked. You place every bet in your own account, and bets placed through B337 use credits, a per-bet usage charge. For free and confidential support call 1800 858 858 or visit gamblinghelponline.org.au.

Risk: Betting involves risk. A PRA price above fair can still lose, and often does, a player's minutes can change after you bet, and there is no guarantee of profit. See responsible gambling for limits and support.

    Questions

    What does PRA betting mean?
It means backing a player's combined points, rebounds and assists over or under one line. A night of 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists is a PRA of 34, which beats a line of 33.5.
Do steals and blocks count in PRA?
No. PRA adds only points, rebounds and assists, so steals and blocks count for nothing in it, although both count towards a double-double or a triple-double.
Does overtime count for a PRA bet?
Under the common rule type, yes: a player on a PRA of 31 at the end of regulation who adds 2 points and 2 rebounds in overtime finishes on 35, over a line of 33.5 (illustrative). A market settled on regulation time only would count the 31, so check which kind you hold.
What are PR, PA and RA bets?
They are two-stat versions of PRA: points plus rebounds, points plus assists, and rebounds plus assists. Each adds two counts into one number bet over or under a line.
